Not sure where you want to go after the wedding?
The typical tourist route extends southwards towards the Hill Country (Kandy, Nuwara Eliya, Hatton and Ella) where you’ll be surrounded by tea fields and then the South Coast (Yala National Park for a safari; Mirissa/Weligama, Tangalle, Hiriketiya, and Ahangama for the beach), . If you want more of a cultural fix, head north towards Anuradhapura, Polonnaruwa and Jaffna. If you’d like to hit the beach sooner, you can head eastwards to Pasikuda Beach and Trincomalee. If you’re only in the country for the week, we’d suggest exploring more of the Cultural Triangle before heading back towards the Negombo for the beach before you head out.

Questions, answered.
We’ve pulled together a list of common questions about the wedding events, travel, and accommodation to help make planning easier.

Our wedding in the heart of Sri Lanka’s cultural triangle
With Kelly’s family and friends based in Europe and most of Yasas’ in New Zealand and Australia, we wanted a wedding destination roughly in between but also somewhere meaningful that bridged our worlds. Sri Lanka stood out naturally: it’s where Yasas was born and raised, and its landscapes and culture made it an ideal spot for everyone to come together.
Our venue, Heritance Kandalama, has a unique setting perched atop a lakeside hill set within 211 acres of protected forest in Sri Lanka’s cultural triangle.

Don’t know where to stay during our wedding?
Heritance Hotels have extended a special discounted accommodation rate for our guests. Find out more by clicking the link below.
We understand that is not possible for everyone so we have also listed some alternative options nearby.
