For the Ceremony & Reception, we recommend staying at Heritance Kandalama or somewhere in the nearby area. We’ve listed some recommendations on the Travel & stay page.

Dress code
For the Welcome Drinks, dress in white, beige, or sandy neutrals in flowy and airy silhouettes that complement the beachside setting. Think fresh, elegant, and effortlessly breezy.
For the Ceremony & Reception, think colourful dresses, light suits, and chic sarees in breathable fabrics. Comfortable shoes are recommended for walking on grass. Please do not wear solid white or ivory.
More details are provided in the Invitation pack.
For the Ceremony & Reception, the venue includes indoor and outdoor areas, so choose shoes you can comfortably walk in on stone paths and grass. Block heels, wedges, dressy sandals, or loafers are usually more practical than very high stilettos.
Absolutely! Sri Lankan traditional outfits and sarees are very welcome. If you’re unsure what to wear or how to source something, feel free to reach out and we’ll point you in the right direction.
For the Welcome Drinks, avoid colourful clothing.
For the Ceremony & Reception, we ask that you avoid solid white or ivory so the bride stands out. Otherwise, feel free to express your personal style and wear colours that make you feel comfortable and confident.

Yes, there will be plenty of food throughout the evening and a full reception meal. Drinks will be served during the events; details on timings will be listed on the Events & schedule page closer to the date.
If your invitation includes a guest’s name or “and guest,” then a plus‑one is welcome. If not, we’re keeping numbers limited and unfortunately can’t accommodate additional guests.
You can share any dietary needs or allergies directly on the RSVP form. We can accommodate most requirements as long as we know in advance.
Travel and practicalities
Most visitors to Sri Lanka need an ETA (electronic travel authorisation) or visa, which can usually be applied for online before you travel. We recommend checking official guidance and booking flights several months in advance for the best options.
Pack light, breathable clothing for warm weather, swimwear, comfortable walking shoes, and a light layer for cooler evenings. Insect repellent and sunscreen are also useful, especially around the lake and outdoor areas.
Yes, there will be plenty of food throughout the evening and a full reception meal. Drinks will be served during the events; details on timings and bar service will be listed on the Events & schedule page.
The easiest way to get around is by car with intercity taxi (like Uber or the local version, PickMe) or private driver; there are also trains and buses between major cities. Tuk‑tuks are common for short trips, and we’ll share trusted driver or transfer recommendations on the Travel page.
Make the most of your time around Heritance Kandalama with easy day trips in the Cultural Triangle. Climb Sigiriya Rock Fortress for stunning views from its ancient ruins, explore the golden Buddha statues in Dambulla Cave Temple just 15 minutes away, or head to Minneriya National Park for jeep safaris spotting elephant herds and birds. The hotel itself offers lake kayaking, guided jungle walks, and village tours for a taste of local life without venturing far.
Because of its location, Kandalama offers a few great post-wedding routes. heads north to ancient history sites like Anuradhapura’s sacred stupas and dagobas, or Polonnaruwa’s well-preserved medieval ruins (both UNESCO spots reachable in 1–2 hours by car). For culture, venture further to Jaffna in the Tamil north, with its Dutch fort, vibrant temples, and spicy crab curries or head up to the central highlands around Nuwara Eliya and Ella for misty tea plantations, hikes, and scenic train rides. For the sea, the south coast is a good place to relax in towns like Hiriketiya, Mirissa and Galle or if surfing is more your vibe, Arugam Bay in the East Coast is a great option.
Sri Lanka may be a small island but its diverse landscapes and history offers something for everyone.
Photos, gifts, and other policies
We’d love you to be present with us during the ceremony, so we’re planning a mostly “unplugged” ceremony with photos after. You’re welcome to share photos from the rest of the day, but please wait until we’ve shared a few of our own first.
If you have any other questions, please message us directly (text or WhatsApp). We’re happy to help with travel logistics, outfit questions, or anything else you’re unsure about.
Your presence in Sri Lanka is truly the best gift. If you would still like to give something, we’ll share some Sri Lankan grassroots charities you can donate to.
